As you are designing the web page in question, and creating the navigation functions, you will want to test each link thoroughly, making sure they work on each and every page. If you have any broken links, customers will lose faith in your product, and rather easily. If you are ready to build a website, then now would be a great time to start searching for the appropriate software, and of course, start making plans.
As my web knowledge improved, I became more and more adventurous. I noticed that many websites have forms that allow visitors to fill up and the owner of the website will receive the information. It’s a great way to collect data. So I found out how to do that. It’s great fun receiving messages from somebody from the other end of the world.
All three companies offer trial versions that you can download and use for a month and, as far as I could tell, they were all full working versions. To say ‘point and click’ is really an understatement, because these three programs are so easy to use, it’s more like just playing around in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.
Online site-builders, as offered by some hosting firms and some online package firms often produce sites that are not search engine friendly, and if you can avoid them it is better. The two leading web design software options are Dreamweaver and Frontpage. Dreamweaver produces sites with good html code and this is helpful in the task of search engine optimization, but it takes time to learn the program. I have been using Frontpage for many years and use it because that is what I am used to (though I know Dreamweaver is a bit better).
A level of perfection should always be the goal for any web designer. It is true that there is no perfect website, though if you have this mindset, you will be constantly trying to improve what you have created, and it will always be better than it was before. It doesn’t matter which kind of site you plan to build, as a good attitude will get you far!
You may be reading this at e-zine. That is a source of articles on a lot of different topics, and this is the third article I have submitted there. (For a list of my articles, click on the author name).
Making e-books presented a need for a completely different range of knowledge and skills that are built up upon each other. It is not as easy as it looks. For those who do not know much about computers, Internet and web designing, it can be quite a struggle!
